On 5th April, twenty-two of our Secondary students from Year 7 to 9 braved the challenge and participated in the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) 2017.
SASMO is an international school-level mathematics competition that is organised by Singapore International Math Contests Centre (SIMCC) and supported by non-profit foundations Singapore Scholastic Trust and SASMO Advisory Council (SAC). Created in 2006, SASMO is one of largest maths contest in Asia with more than 20,000 participants from 19 countries in SASMO 2016.

The SASMO is officially endorsed by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. All participants may obtain co-curriculum marks by participating: national level for medalists and school level for all other participants.

Top scorers will receive Gold (Top 8%), Silver (Next 12%) and Bronze Awards (Next 20%). All Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners in SASMO will be invited to join SIMOC (Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge) and AIMO (Asia International Mathematical Olympiad). All participants for AIMO & SIMOC may obtain co-curriculum marks for international level.

This is TIS Puchong first participation in a math contest and we look forward to many more for our young mathematicians!
