TIS students will be given core training in three languages – English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia. They will be required to study these three languages from Early Years right up to Secondary. We believe a strong foundation of these languages will provide our students with a competitive edge in the global stage.EnglishEnglish is the main medium of instruction across all levels in TIS. We benchmark against international standards by using Cambridge ESOL as well as Cambridge IGCSE First and Second Language examinations. These examinations are internationally accepted and recognised by more than 500 universities worldwide.MandarinWith China's growing economic power, there is now a stronger demand for individuals who are proficient in Mandarin. Students are required to study Mandarin from Early Years to Secondary School. They may select Mandarin as an elective paper for their IGCSE examination (i.e. Mandarin as a First Language, Second Language or Foreign Language). Optionally, students may also opt for the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi; or also known as Chinese Proficiency Test).Bahasa MalaysiaTIS provides Bahasa Malaysia classes based on the language learning ability of our students. The intermediate classes are similar to the Malaysian National Curriculum and the basic classes are intended for students who are learning Bahasa Malaysia as a foreign language. The aim is for students to have the ability to use the language effectively for practical communication. Students will be taking the Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Malay examination.
