This week sees the start of the IGCSE exams.

This week sees the start of the IGCSE exams. The time has now come for the students of Year 11 to demonstrate just how hard they have been working, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic over the last two years. We all wish them the very best as they begin this exam season. In order to manage risk, students will be spaced further apart than the examination minimums and we will be using multiple locations for the larger exams in order to reduce the number of students in one place. While students need to stay in school in between exams, they will be able to leave school once their exams are finished for the day.

Last week, over 300 of our students received their first Covid19 vaccination. Our thanks go to parent and staff volunteers, who helped with the process at ISKL. This process is still continuing and those who have registered but not yet received their appointments should continue to monitor their “my sejahtera” app for their booked slots. Please note that these appointments can appear at very short notice (ie: less than 24 hours)

Two weeks ago, I had the immense pleasure of meeting with our student council. As a newcomer to any school, it is always good to meet the student leadership teams as it gives a good insight into student life and the ethos and atmosphere of a school. In the 24 years I have spent in various schools around the world, I can tell you that I have rarely met a more committed and engaged team. I look forward to working closely with them over the coming years.

Finally, a message for Year Ten and their families. Depending on when we are able to open face-to-face lessons for students, we will examine whether it is possible to conduct end of term tests. If this is not the case, we will generate teacher-assessed grades for this term. On return to Year 11 in the new year, we will arrange for “mini mocks” in order to give students experience of exam scenarios in addition to our normal preparation for the IGCSEs.

Best Wishes, Stay Safe.
