8 September 2020 - All assemblies are conducted via Google Meet.

Negaraku!

The Early Years and Primary students are now in the third week of the home-written IPC Unit, learning about Malaysia as a home or host country. With the extension of the RMCO, it is beginning to feel like home for all expatriate students, families and staff alike! But, what a wonderful country to be in lockdown. With Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, many of us are taking the opportunity to explore it further.
We do still have some students who are, unfortunately, locked down in their home countries, overseas. Their needs are being catered for, to keep their learning going, and we look forward to a time when they can return to TISKL. The Exit Point for Negaraku will be held on Friday 18th September, and students are encouraged to wear national costumes.

Assemblies

Currently, all assemblies are conducted via Google Meet, with each class joining the session. Unfortunately, home students cannot join the sessions as they happen, but the recording can be shared by the class teachers.

CCAs

Under the schools’ SOP, certain CCAs can now proceed. These will include some sports, and will commence on Wednesday 9th September for Key Stage 2. If not joining any sports CCA, students will experience a rotation of activities, whilst remaining in the classroom. In Key Stage 1, the same system will follow as per Term 1 with children doing a variety of activities in the classroom.

Yearbook Photos 2020

This year, we are changing the format of these photos for the 2020 Yearbook. The photographer will be in school on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September to take individual photos by class - a schedule will be shared with parents and students. All students should wear full uniform or PE/Thunder kit for the photo, and the theme for 2020 will be ‘Individuality’. Children can use a prop in their photo - something which expresses themselves as an individual - and this can be brought from home if necessary. Please note that pets cannot be brought into the school!

A message from the new Year 2 Leader

Now that the Term has settled down with all children back in school, here is a personal message from Ms Ria. (PS. She didn’t bring her cat to school!)

Hello everyone!

My name is Ria Bailey, and I am very excited to be joining Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur as Year 2 Year Leader. I have been teaching for several years now, in schools in the UK, Spain and Malaysia. In my spare time I enjoy reading, drawing, eating (so I fit right in here in Malaysia!) and cuddles with my cat. I also love travelling, learning new languages and diving – my favourite things to see when I am diving are turtles, rays and nudibranchs!
I look forward to getting to know all the Year 2 children and parents better over the next few months, whether in person or on Google Meet.
