Sport plays a vital role in our school and is emphasised by the two large league organisations we are members of - KL Sports League and Kuala Lumpur International School Sport (KLISS). These organisations give us the opportunity to send various teams from many sports to compete against a number of different schools across Selangor state from under 9 - under 18 age ranges.

We have a wide range of sporting opportunities for our students to be involved in during their time at TIS Puchong. We have recently created ‘B’ teams which give more students the chance to participate in competitive teams. We have gone from 0 teams in January 2017 to over 40 teams in the present day. Our Coaches are dedicated and work tirelessly to ensure athletes are ready for their competitions and the athletes feed off this commitment, resulting in a fantastic atmosphere during our home matches.

Thank you for your support,

Mr Mark Kelly
Director of Sport

Basketball
This sport has proven to arguably be the most popular amongst our athletes out of any of the sports we offer. We have several extremely gifted athletes in this sport and this shows with the competitions we have won in both the KL Sports League and KLISS.

We have boys and girls teams in under 11, 13, 15 and 18 years. This season, our highlights include winning the KLISS under 13 & 15 girls trophies as well as finishing as champions of the KL Sports League under 18 boys. We also went to MSSD and our under 18 boys finished as champions in our first ever appearance.
Teeball
Tee Ball is a new sport for our under 9 and 11 athletes which has been brought in this year. They have enjoyed the competitions in both KLISS and KL Sports League and have gained vital experience going into next seasons tournaments.

For this age group we encourage progression of hand-eye coordination as well as understanding of the rules and improving communication skills.
Football
Our Football teams were formed at the beginning of last year and have grown into a very popular sporting opportunity ever since. Our footballers start playing competitively from the age of 7 and progress all the way through up to the age of 17. We have teams made up of under 9, 11, 13, 15 and 18 for both boys and girls.

Our highlights so far include going unbeaten in the under 11 boys KL Sports League, winning this in both 2017 and 2018. As well as this our under 9 girls won their first ever KLISS cup in 2017 and this year have gone unbeaten, winning the Alice Smith Invitational tournament trophy in April.
Volleyball
This is still a generally new sport and we have many newly formed Volleyball teams but the athletes have taken to it unbelievably well. We compete in both KLISS and KL Sports League and have had a lot of success so far with many 2nd places as well as one champions trophy.

Our teams include our under 13, 15 and 18 for both boys and girls and the enthusiasm and commitment showed from our athletes shows how much Volleyball means to our school and students. This is one of the few sports we train for all year round and preparation matches for upcoming tournaments are aplenty.
Swimming
Our swimming team was formed a little over a year ago, with our swimmers competing in KLISS, MSSD and KL Sports League. We have formed teams in under 9, 11, 13, 15 and 18 and train hard a few times a week in our state-of-the-art 25m swimming pool.

We have hosted Swim meets against Epsom College and other schools as well as attending external tournaments held by large organisations. Our swim teams are growing at a rapid rate and our swimmers benefit from being coached by our excellent swim coaches.
Badminton
This is another one of our new sports but already we have had success in it. Our Badminton teams range from under 13 all the way up to under 18.

This year we competed in MSSD and KLISS in both single and double matches. We achieved a number of gold medals as we felt our way into competitive arenas in 2018, which we will build upon for the under 18 KLISS tournament in November.

Cross country
This is an event which has taken time and effort to train and be prepared for. In November 2017 we attended our first ever Cross Country event at Nexus International School Malaysia and took over 60 students which was our single biggest event in our history.

We very much encourage participation in this sport, not just for the competitive nature of the event, but also due to its many health and social benefits.
Netball
This is our oldest team, but still only 2 years old! This team have been together for a while, sharing many exciting moments, for example, playing in the KL Sports League cup final in November 2017. We train all year round and have regular preparation matches to be ready for our league tournaments next term.

Recently we have created under 13 and 15 teams which we hope will give our newer generation of athletes the chance to compete in league formats in the future.
Handball
In January we entered Handball MSSD tournaments which was a great effort from our both athletes and coaches. It is a different type of sport which is not generally offered in many leagues up and down the country, therefore this was a great opportunity for our athletes to experience this type of sport in a competitive environment.

We hope to build on this by having friendly matches against other schools around the state in the coming months.
Benchball
Our Benchball teams are some of our youngest athletes. We are proud to offer this to our 7, 8 and 9 year olds in KLISS which began in 2017. Our girls team finished 2nd in the cup finals which is a magnificent success considering how new the team is and how quickly they had to adapt to the rules.
