The theme throughout this week has undoubtedly been the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) that’s  been introduced at TIS Puchong this year.
First off, the Year 1 and Year 2 students enjoyed a rotation of various IPC activities up in the secondary science labs. All experiences were geared around different functions of the brain. What made this morning extra special was that the Secondary Year 7 students had designed the activities themselves and were leading the sessions for our Primary children. They did an amazing job in helping and guiding our young learners, demonstrating some great teaching and leadership skills. This morning was truly a beautiful example of an all school projects in which everybody was learning in their own way!
On Thursday, we offered a repeat of the Info sessions introducing parents to the IPC. These sessions are meant to provide parents with the basic knowledge of the IPC and provide an opportunity to ask questions about this new development for our Primary School. We fully enjoyed sharing our enthusiasm for learning through the IPC with our parents and listening to what they find important in preparing the children for a future we can’t predict yet. We will keep running these introductory IPC sessions every term, both for new parents and for those who could not yet attend any of the sessions.
This week we were able to share with you the excellent news that we can start enhancing the learning in Year 5 one term earlier than originally planned. Initiated by a number of Year 5 parents inquiring about the possibility to start the IPC in Year 5 in Term 3, we looked into the possibility of an earlier IPC start and are delighted to conclude that we are able to launch learning through the IPC in Year 5 from August onwards. More information on the IPC in Year 5 will follow shortly.
On a personal note, I would really like to express how absolutely delighted I am with the way children, teachers and parents have embraced learning through the IPC in Year 1 to 4. The enthusiasm displayed, and effort invested has made its implementation a very successful one, positively impacting the learning in those classes. It has been a joy to observe this happening and I am looking forward to more to come!
