This week’s newsletter will start with our annual KLISS Secondary Swimming tournament which took place on Friday 25th January at IGB International School and our second championship in 2 months for one of our Football teams.

Our swim team performed excellently, far better than was expected and better than we performed last year, finishing in a fantastic 5th position overall, ahead of many established international schools. A huge thank you much go to Mr Jason, Mr Azharul and Mr Zul for the hours they have put in during lunchtimes and after school coaching this team which has now reaped its rewards.

On Monday our Football under 15 boys, led by Mr Owen, travelled to Tenby International School for their KLISS Cup finals. They fought hard but eventually succumbed to a few losses and ended up finishing 6th. A disappointing finish for our Phuket 7’s semi finalists and one I’m sure they will want to put right in the coming season.

On Tuesday, we hosted our Football under 13 boys KL Sports League cup finals against TIS Kuala Lumpur, HELP and APIS International Schools. Our first match was a close game which we edged 3-1. The second match was a whitewash, with us running out clear 5-0 winners meaning it was between ourselves, coached by myself, and TIS Kuala Lumpur to decide who would win the championship. The first half was a tense affair, ending 0-0. In the second half our boys came out all guns blazing, scoring 3 excellent goals which resulted in us being crowned champions! An incredible effort from our lads who are fresh from their Phuket 7’s championship just 9 weeks ago.

On Wednesday our Volleyball under 16 girls team, led by myself, took on SMK Putra in a high quality and entertaining match. We had many debutants and they settled in extremely well. Our existing players from last year showed just how much they have improved and played some excellent Volleyball which was pleasing to see. Our future looks bright for this team and will only get better with more trainings and fixtures.

Our Basketball under 18 boys and girls played in their annual MSSD tournament against a host of outstanding teams. Our boys, led by Mr Jason put in some good performances but were over ran by some superior teams. Our girls team, coached by Ms Farah and led by their captain, the excellent Esther Lim, played fantastically and with a bit more luck could have got into the final but settled for finishing with a bronze medal in 3rd place.

As we approach our Chinese New Year break, I am feeling extremely confident in our sports teams. We have now finalised our teams form the trials for this terms fixtures and we are looking strong and ready to compete for this seasons trophies in KLISS, KL Sports League and MSSD.
