14 February - Message From The Principal

I have today, had the pleasure of watching our Primary students give a Chinese New Year assembly as part of the Lunar New Year celebrations that is formally celebrated on Friday and Saturday of this week. The significance and traditions of this time of year were shared across both schools through student performances and by our being fortunate to see a Lion Dance by two visiting lions and their accompanying team of musicians who visited the campus today. In addition, our students have also held cultural displays and fair stalls to mark this colourful time of year. Having enjoyed the celebrations across the school, I would like to thank the parents, students and staff who have worked so hard to make today the special day it has been.

This week has also been a week of sports with triumphs for our boys’ basketball team over Beaconhouse School earlier in the week. Volleyball and soccer fixtures have also been ongoing as well as a large number of competitions and representations for MSSD events in swimming, basketball and ping pong. A very well done to all competitors!

Following our Chinese New Year recess, you will have noticed that we are improving our safeguarding measures in order to provide the safest learning environment for our children. Thank you to those parents who are giving their time and comments in support of the newly established Safeguarding Committee. The work of this committee will result in a change of some of our routines but will ultimately result in enhanced safety for the children in the school that are on a par with quality schools around the world. As always, please do offer your feedback and comments as these are valued and indeed essential so as to ensure that we continue to strive for improved safety and security.

I look forward to sending a fuller newsletter next week following our holiday.  In the meantime, I would like to wish you a happy and restful Chinese New Year holiday and, most importantly, 恭喜發財!!
Kind regards,
