​​Happy new year, and I really do hope that 2022 brings a ‘more normal’ year than we have seen in the last two years.

It is a pleasure to be the ‘new’ Principal at this school, and I would like to introduce myself, so that you have a better idea of my background, as I lead both TIS Kuala Lumpur and Puchong over the next two terms.

Many people will be aware that I have been the Principal at Taylor’s International School, KL since 2009. At the start this was transforming Sri Garden (a Malaysian curriculum school) into Sri Garden International and then into Taylor’s International School. During this time, I have been involved with the development of the whole TIS approach to education and learning, and that includes the development of this great campus in Puchong.

Originally, I am from England, and I am a secondary Physics teacher by background, and spent most of my teaching time with A level and IGCSE students. I have worked in a few countries but perhaps most importantly, I have spent the last 23 years in Malaysia. Academic success is very important but so is the holistic development of a child. I hope that the pandemic calms to a point where activities, like sport and performance, that this school has become renowned for, can continue. Schools should also be about developing the whole child, giving them the essential skills of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. This way a child can go out into the world, with all the ingredients to be successful.

Parents will always have questions, and as I said to the new parents last week, please ask questions when they are small. Please do not wait for small questions to become big barriers. Most of these questions will be centred in subjects, and so these questions should be aimed at classroom and subject teachers. For organisation questions please go through the Heads of Section or myself. As the term progresses, I look forward to meeting parents, however, please be aware, that I will be in the Puchong campus on alternate days, with other days in KL
