26 March 2021 - Learning Everywhere

Dear parent,

This is the second last newsletter of the term to keep you updated with what is happening in the school. So many activities have happened, it is hard to keep up but I have been fortunate to have been invited to a few of the many activities that occur in our campus. On Thursday I was invited to the Secondary floor to see Years 7, 8 and 9 actively participating within the classrooms in a well-coordinated programme about slavery. An important topic that is taught in History and Humanities. The project included a series of questions, short films and a quiz and the students used their phones to scan a QR code and therefore became active participants. The degree of organization to achieve this was high and I would like to thank Mr Gladwin and Miss Kanages.

I was also invited to come into Year 5 and to talk about Myths and Legends, the unit of study they are currently doing. In which, exploration of various ancient civilisations is one of the learning objectives. Early on I was filmed talking about the myths of Prometheus and Sisyphus and this was shown to the students. They then eagerly asked me questions about the Gods of Ancient Greece and Rome and I answered as best I could. It was very encouraging to see such sharp and active minds.

We also celebrated this week two of our esteemed members of staff, Miss Latha and Miss ST. Both received the Certification as Site Facilitator as part of the Quantum Learning Programme. Both are very valued members of staff who work passionately about what they do and have a very high degree of authenticity. This means that these teachers have joined the team of Lead Mentors to help us move even more forward good teaching and learning throughout the school. In the last survey, there was an improvement in this area, but of course we will continue to leave no stone unturned and our aim is to make sure that all of our teachers reach a very high level. It is a journey we are on and it is a wonderful journey, and all of our teachers are on board to improve daily.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that credit card payments would be now available to all and attached to this letter is the information you will need if you want to pay by this method as well as a video tutorial https://bit.ly/3rnNT0y. Lastly, dear parents please do not forget to see me if you have concerns regarding the school or any other. Please know that my doors are open.
