Building Confidence in the Austrian Alps

22/01/2026

High in the breathtaking Austrian Alps, students from Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur and Taylor’s International School Puchong embarked on an unforgettable ski adventure that blended challenge, culture and camaraderie into one extraordinary learning experience.

Over five exciting days on the slopes, students trained with professional instructors, building confidence, resilience and new skills with every run. Learning side by side, they formed strong cross-campus friendships while demonstrating maturity, responsibility and exemplary conduct throughout the trip. As Pui Yi (TIS Puchong) shared, “A week of skiing was both exciting and physically rewarding. We don’t usually get the chance to do that much cardio in a week back in Malaysia, which made the experience in Austria especially fun. It’s something I’d love to go back and experience again.”

Beyond the physical challenge, the journey became a meaningful lesson in courage and personal growth. For many, the greatest achievement was not just mastering the slopes, but overcoming personal doubts, stepping beyond their comfort zones, and embracing new experiences with confidence. Pei Yu (TIS Kuala Lumpur) reflected, “Austria pushed me beyond my fears. Trying something new with friends gave me courage I didn’t know I had. Through every fall and laugh, I discovered confidence, independence and friendships that made the journey unforgettable.”

The experience extended well beyond the ski slopes. During a rest day in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, students immersed themselves in the city’s rich history and culture, complemented by engaging activities such as an alpine roller coaster. Their stay in the charming town of Golling added to the experience, with warm hospitality and a well-organised programme that made the journey both enriching and enjoyable.

They returned home with lasting memories, stronger bonds and a renewed sense of confidence, a true reflection of the character and spirit nurtured within the Taylor’s International Schools community. It’s a spirit we look forward to celebrating again when this exciting ski trip returns in January 2027.
