10 June 2022 - Gearing Up For Sports Competition
10 June 2022 - Gearing Up For Sports Competition
Next week is our first set of Sports Days in over 2 years! Your Physical Education and Sport Department have been flat out working extremely hard to ensure that this is one that will live long in the memory and will meet the children’s expectations. All the events will take place on campus and the schedule is as follows:

Monday - Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)
Tuesday - Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9)
Wednesday - Years 4, 5 and 6
Thursday - Years 1, 2 and 3

The plans are in place and we are ready to go! We will be having medals for primary events (Sprint event only) but not for secondary as the aim is for inclusion and we feel that having days purely for the teamwork and joy of competing far outweighs any need for medals and external rewards, although students will be competing for points for their house colour. Please be aware that parents and guardians, you are invited to come on site for these events and watch on from the designated area in the canteen!

Year 11’s we understand that you have mock exams around this time and we are courteous to this by allowing you to not participate on the day, however, you still must come to school and send an email to me from your parent explaining that you will not be attending the sports day on Monday and will instead head to level 5 to do revision. I do however encourage all year 11 students to come along and take part as the events will be finished in time for lunch so the time missed for lessons is minimal and this can have a positive effect on your mental health as well as providing the opportunity to experience your last ever sports day event in school and make memories for a lifetime.

Beginning at the end of June, I can also announce that we will be creating our fantastic array of sports teams once again! This is where the students WILL compete for medals and trophies by representing the school in major sporting events across the state against other schools in AIMS (Association of International Malaysia Schools) and possibly the KL Sports League. More information on trials for these sports from under 9 - under 18 will be seen in the coming weeks on the instagram taylors.lightning.
