Ocean Week 2026 at Taylor’s International School Puchong celebrated a shared commitment to ocean conservation and sustainability. Guided by the theme, “Our choices today, protect our ocean tomorrow,” students explored the importance of protecting our oceans through expert talks, hands-on activities, student-led exhibits, and collaborative projects. These experiences encouraged responsible choices and reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing compassionate, responsible, and globally minded learners.
Highlights from Ocean Week 2026
Throughout the week, learning came alive through interactive booths, guest speaker sessions, performances, and school-wide activities centred on ocean conservation and sustainability.
Students gained valuable insights from guest speakers, including representatives from Bubble Turtle Conservation, who shared real-world perspectives on marine ecosystems and the importance of protecting ocean life. KS2 students also explored future opportunities in ocean science through an inspiring talk by Prof. Dr Michelle Soo on careers in marine biology.
These experiences helped students connect classroom learning with real-world environmental challenges and broadened their understanding of the role they can play in protecting our oceans. By exploring both conservation efforts and careers in marine science, students gained a deeper appreciation of how individual actions can contribute to a more sustainable future.
A Community Effort Bringing the Ocean to Life
One of the highlights of Ocean Week was the transformation of the school atrium into an immersive ocean-themed display, brought to life through the collaboration between parents and the school community.
At the centre stood Toto the Leatherback Turtle, a sculpture created from recycled materials collected over several weeks. More than a creative centrepiece, the project showcased the power of creativity, recycling, and environmental responsibility.
