Terms & Conditions Governing Scholarships
1. Definitions
The following definitions apply when used herein:
1.1. “School” shall mean Taylor’s International School wholly owned by Taylor’s International School (KL) Sdn. Bhd. 199001013246 (204816-H) and Taylor’s International School (Puchong) Sdn. Bhd. 201101010017 (938156-A), as indicated by the campus applied for in the Scholarship Application.
1.2. “Parent” is either parent of the student or legal guardian, and the provisions herein shall be binding on them jointly and severally.
1.3. “Student” and “Child” may be used interchangeably in this document and refer to the child named on the Scholarship Application.
1.4. “Application” shall mean the submission of a fully completed online Scholarship Application, together with all compulsory documents uploaded, by the deadline published on the School website.
1.5. “Scholarship” means the fee waiver and/or benefits awarded to a successful applicant under these Terms & Conditions, as set out in the Letter of Offer.
1.6. “Letter of Offer” means the formal letter issued by the School to a successful scholarship applicant and their Parent, setting out the scholarship benefits, the applicable Tuition Fee, Deposit, and any other enrolment fees, and the Last Date to Accept the Offer.
1.7. “Last Date to Accept the Offer” means the deadline specified in the Letter of Offer by which the Parent must, in writing, accept or decline the scholarship and settle the applicable fees.
1.8. “Deposit” means the sum of money payable by the Parent upon enrolment, as specified in the Letter of Offer and the School’s prevailing Fee Schedule.
1.9. “Fees” refers to the Tuition Fee, Deposit, and any other payable monies specified in the Letter of Offer or the School’s prevailing Fee Schedule, excluding the Application and Registration Fees waived for successful scholarship applicants.
1.10. “Application Fee” and “Registration Fee” mean the fees ordinarily payable upon application and registration to the School, which are waived for successful scholarship applicants in accordance with Clause 3.1.
2. Applications
2.1. Applications must be submitted by the deadline advertised on the School website. Late applications will not be considered. An ‘application’ is defined as the submission of a fully completed online Scholarship Application with all compulsory documents uploaded.
2.2. The School has sole discretion over the acceptance of applications and reserves the right to decline any application and is not obliged to offer any justification for the rejection of any application.
3. Scholarship Restrictions
3.1. The scholarship is open to students who are not currently enrolled at the School.
3.2. Recipients of the scholarship are eligible for only one award.
3.3. Scholarships are valid for two academic years, contingent upon the students maintaining high academic performance and continued excellence in academics and/or co-curricular activities.
4. Application Success
4.1. A formal Letter of Offer outlining the scholarship benefits will be sent to the selected students and their parents. Successful scholarship applicants will receive a waiver for the Application and Registration Fees. The Letter of Offer will specify the Tuition Fee, Deposit, and any other enrolment fees. If you choose not to accept the offered scholarship, please inform us in writing by the Last Date to Accept the Offer.
5. Validity of the Offer of Place and Scholarship
5.1. The scholarship committee includes the Principal, Head of Secondary, and a representative from the Leadership Team or Board of Governors, who will interview shortlisted candidates to decide on the final scholarship awards. Depending on the specifics of the scholarship application, additional members of the academic team may also participate in the selection process.
5.2. The total amount of the applicable fees, as outlined in the Letter of Offer, must be paid to the School by the Last Date to Accept the Offer. Payments should be made in Ringgit Malaysia.
5.3. The offer of admission and scholarship will become invalid if:
- The full amount of the applicable fees is not received by the School by the Last Date to Accept the Offer specified in the Letter of Offer; or
- The offer of admission and scholarship is declined.
6. Eligibility Requirements
6.1. All scholarships are awarded on the condition that students maintain full-time enrolment. The scholarship will be terminated if the student’s enrolment status changes, such as if they discontinue their studies at the School.
6.2. To retain the scholarship, the student must:
- Adhere to all of the school’s policies and regulations;
- Comply with the Terms & Conditions Governing Enrolment and Admission;
- Maintain satisfactory attendance and academic performance as required by the School;
- Fulfil all criteria specified in the Letter of Offer.
7. Scholarship Termination
7.1. The School may terminate the student’s scholarship at any time if the scholar:
- Does not meet the terms and conditions of the scholarship;
- Fails to comply with the Terms & Conditions related to enrolment and admission;
- Does not maintain satisfactory academic progress;
- Is suspended or expelled from the School during their course of study;
- Provides incorrect, false, or misleading information, or withholds relevant information on their scholarship application or after receiving a scholarship offer.
7.2. Please be aware that if your child’s scholarship is terminated for any reason, the School reserves the right to seek reimbursement for some or all of the awarded scholarship amount.
8. Publicity & Promotion
8.1. If your child is offered a scholarship, or attends any events held by the School, their details – including name, photograph, video, and details of the scholarship awarded – may be used by the School and/or partner organisations, including but not limited to Taylor’s Schools and Taylor’s Education Group, for promotional purposes, including but not limited to the School and/or partner organisation website, social media channels, print and electronic media.
8.2. It is agreed that the use of these photographs and videos shall in no way be used in any forum other than official School business. The scholarship recipient also waives the right to inspect or approve the finished product, the advertising copy, or any other matter that may be used in connection therewith, or the use to which it may be applied.
