Year 11 Art exam preparation

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It has been fantastic to see students back in the school campus after such a long time.

On Wednesday 24th June, we had 143 Year 11 students come back to school. Yes it was different in some ways, but in many ways familiar. Students had their temperature taken upon entry, and had to observe social distancing at all times around the school. The one-way system caught some out as they reverted back to their old remembered ways. Talking to these students, many commented that they were really happy to be back in school to talk face to face with friends and teachers.

The teachers were pleased to have Year 11 back in school. TISKL teachers have done a great job with the online learning and we are really happy to say that Year 11 have not missed any curriculum content and are where they should be for the November exams. At this moment, we have no news about whether these exams will go ahead as written exams, however we do know how CIE will organise the assessment if they are cancelled. We do know that if the exams are cancelled, all our Year 11 will still get grades awarded, with results being released in January 2021. IGCSE certificates will follow later.

Early Years students came into school on Wednesday with just over half the students attending. It was great to see and hear the energy and enthusiasm that these young students bring back to school.

You are now aware that on 15th July, we are allowed to have Y5 to Y10 start in school and on 22nd July we are then allowed to have Y1 to Y4 return.
Due to the size of this school we will need to follow Model 3 from the MoE. This means that some students will be learning in school and some will learn at home and then we will alternate. The details about the timings for this, together with details of arrival, food, lessons and dismissal will be included next week when we publish the details. The health and safety model will be the same as that published to everyone two weeks ago in preparation for the Year 11 return to school.

Stay safe

Peter Wells
