Dear Parents and Guardians,
It has been a very busy few weeks, with various sports and academic competitions, together with exams. It was also the time when the school started the Sports Complex development. Many parents will have seen that the work on the temporary car park is well underway, and that it should be finished in the next 10 days. Once that is finished we can move the staff parking out to the temporary car park and the main construction can begin. We don’t have a start date yet for this main construction, but I am promised that it is soon!
A reminder for parents to read the email sent out earlier in the month about the changes to the traffic flow on the school road. Essentially, the school road will decrease in width to two lanes: one lane into the school, and one lane exiting the school. This means that there will be NO PARKING or WAITING inside the school campus. Cars will come into the school and do a tight U-turn and exit. If you use a driver, please make them aware of these changes.
Many congratulations to the Primary and Secondary football teams that went to play in the FOBISIA games in Jakarta last weekend. All the teams played really well and we are very proud of them. The students all had a really great experience traveling to another country and working together as a team. We look forward to more invitations to overseas competitions.
Also recently, there was the AIMS language competition held at HELP international school. Again TISKL did really well with some well deserved medal winners. Academic competitions like this are becoming more popular, and it is really good to see our students taking part in competitions in BM and Mandarin.
In Secondary, the Year 9 students are choosing their IGCSE subject options for Year 10 and 11. To help them with this process, the Secondary SLT have held both face to face and online sessions to support parents and students. This process will be ongoing for a few weeks to make sure that all the students are comfortable with their choices.
The May/June IGCSE examination session is coming to a close. During this session our Year 11 students have sat for their language IGCSE papers - Bahasa ( First and Foreign language) and also Mandarin (First, Second and Foreign languages). These are not offered by the exam board in October and so we sit these papers now. The results for these papers will be released in August.
Year 11 then start their mock or trial exams after the midterm break. Good luck to them but I urge them to remember that revision and practice can help that luck tremendously!
And finally, I hope that everyone has a peaceful break next week. Working hard is balanced by taking the chance to recuperate and rest. I look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 9th June.
