School’s Care.mvmt project

School's Care.mvmt project

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that everyone enjoyed the short break over the extended weekend. It is very important that students get breaks from school so that they can then refocus their attention on their studies. The school calendar is planned to allow such breaks periodically so that students (and teachers) do not become too tired or stale in their approach to learning.

From previous years, parents will be aware that TISKL is very much involved in the development of teachers, not just our own staff but also pre-service teachers from Taylor’s University. These Education students do practical placements in their Year 2 and Year 4. This helps these university students really understand what the teaching profession is all about. Our mentor teachers do a great job with these students and it also makes them really focus upon what they are doing in the classroom.

In a similar linked project from Taylor’s University, we have recently been hosting teachers from various refugee schools in the city. These people are in most cases not trained teachers at all, but have volunteered to help refugee children. They have been observing our teachers and picking up great ideas to take back with them to their own schools. This is a super example of the School’s Care.mvmt project specifically in care for others. We are proud to be able to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Finally to the cafeteria, and online ordering. We have been having some tech difficulties recently with the online ordering system, but we believe that this is now behind us. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Getting the next month's menu online well before the end of the month is now a priority as the last two months cannot be repeated.

The online system has also changed slightly for monthly ordering, where parents will be able to choose each day what their child will be eating. This allows the flexibility to change between Asian, Western and vegetarian food on a daily basis which is more convenient for many. We are also working closely with our providers - Cezar’s Kitchen, to get future months menus online so that parents can pre-order for the term.

Stay safe.
